Internet Security adoption is increasing in India. The number of "Cyber Security Professionals" needed in India by 2020 is ~1-5 Million. I believe that there is a serious disconnect between the numbers and reality. During the launch of Digital India PM Modi specifically mentioned that during his visits to other countries, one common topic always discussed by leaders was of Cyber Security. Further, he urged our youth to come up with a cyber security solution which can be utilized by entire world.
The salaries of Ethical Hackers is more than any other IT professional. The average salary of a Certified Ethical Hacker is around Rs. 3.5 lakhs. It's depend on what type of work you do are you a free lance our your work for company
If you work as a freelance then your amount will be good our if you work for company then your salary will be good but not good as freelance work because I am a freelance hacker
After the launch of Digital India, NASSCOM was given the responsibility to set up CSTF(Cyber Security Task Force) of India. I happen to be a part of the committee which was supposed to draft the CSTF memorandum. There were three main areas under which development of Cyber Security in India was planned:
1. Security Policy
2. Industry Linkages
3. Creating Professionals in Cyber Security
So, it is clear that demand is less of CEH's. But the future is for sure bright. Now you can earn ~4-5L INR/yr. But this is going to double in a couple of years.

Again, it also depends on the company which is hiring you. A better option can be bug bounty programs, some people are getting huge amount for finding security bugs. One of my friend found 2 bugs in Facebook and was rewarded a hefty amount of money. He was also ranked in facebook security hall of fame. So, it can be a profitable side business aside from your day job.
